Grooming your Yorkie or Biewer
Yorkies and Biewers are some of the highest maintenance dogs if left in full coat. They have real hair just like humans, and require daily brushing and weekly or bi-monthy bathing. Many owners choose to bring their Fur-Baby to a Groomer every 4-6 weeks for a “Puppy Cut” to keep this maintenance down. Whichever you decide to choose, they are all adorable either way!
If you plan on grooming yourself, as I do, I will give you all of my favorites to buy and use. Even if you choose to bring yours to a Groomer, you will still need tools to keep your baby tangle free in between groomings.
I personally bathe all of my Yorkies and Biewers every other week. I recommend brushing and combing out your Yorkie or Biewer Baby PRIOR to bathing, and then of course after their bathe as well. Here are the tools I recommend:: “Tangle Teezer Detangling Dog Grooming Brush”; “Chris Christensen Mark X Slicker Brush”; and “Chris Christensen Dog Brush 20mm”. For combs I recommend the “Andis Dog Comb” and ” Coastal Li’l Pals Double-Sided Dog Comb” this is the perfect little comb for their eye area. For bathing I use “Chris Chritensen Ice on Ice Bag Deal 64”, it includes Detangling Shampoo, Conditioner, and Finishing Spray. It works great on tangles and offers a high shine to their coat. For my Biewers, I use “Chris Christensen White on White Shampoo”. While bathing, I clean out their ears with “ChlorConazole Ear Flush”, it’s an Antibacterial & Antifungal Ear & Skin Flush. Make sure that you use Q-Tips to dry out their ears. I use a “TYMO Hair Dryer” with the Diffuser. This is a light weight fast drying Ionic Blow Dryer which isn’t as loud as some other blow dryers. I recommend the “YITAHOME 24” Electric Lift Dog Grooming Table” or if your space is limited, use the “Master Equipment Pet Grooming Table”. Its portable and you can place it right on your countertop.
You’ll want to trim the leather on your baby’s ears and paws once a month with the “Mini Arco” trimmer made by Wahl as well as trim your baby’s nails with “Shiny Pet Store Pet Clippers”. Make sure that you buy some “Styptic Powder” for the ocassional time that you may cut a bit too short. It happens!
There are plenty of YouTube videos out there to show you techniques on grooming Yorkies as well as Biewers.
I hope that you find my information & recommendations useful.
